The history of the Group began in Parma in 1877, 140 years ago, when Pietro Barilla opened a small bread and pasta shop.

2016 ended with positive results and a turnover of 3,413 million of euros.

That moment marked the beginning of a journey of quality and passion that has identified Barilla over the years, leading the company to the development of iconic brands in the food sector.

Barilla is a global leader in the markets of pasta and ready-to-use sauces in continental Europe, bakery products in Italy and crisp bread in Nordic countries.

The Group is present worldwide with 28 production sites, which every year contribute to the production of more than 1,800,000 tons of products, consumed in more than 100 countries.

The analysis carried out by the independent organization Reputation Institute ranked Barilla at the 2nd place among the most reputed food companies in the world, with a score of 77.7 out of 100, up 2.8 points compared to 2016.
